National Women's Month: Celebrating the Women of Calson
March is Women's History Month and to celebrate, Calson would like to highlight the amazing women on our team. Our success is largely due to these women, who give so much to our family and yours. As we celebrate each of them and recognize their contributions to our organization, it seems appropriate to start with Alana.
Alana Reyes
Co-Founder & Regional Administrator
Alana brings over 25 years of senior living experience to the team. She began her career as a Social Services Director and Admissions Coordinator in a skilled nursing facility, where she found her passion for the assisted living aspect of senior care. Alana believes in creating environments where moments of joy, independence, and wellness are the focus of each and every day. She now maintains responsibility for our compliance with California state policies and procedures and ensures we adhere to all licensing regulations and standards.
Shelley Reyes
Regional Assistant Administrator
Shelley started in Assisted Living in 2006 as a Marketing Director. This was her first experience working with seniors, and she found it to be very fulfilling. Shelley discovered spending time with each resident and listening to their life stories was genuinely gratifying. She knew from the beginning; this was where she wanted to be. Three years after her nephew, Jason Reyes, opened Cornerstone Assisted Living, she became the Administrator. Being part of a family-owned and operated company is indeed a blessing to her.
Cathy Villareal
Regional Director of Resident
Cathy came on board at Cornerstone Assisted Living as the Marketing Director in late 2016. This was a big transition for Cathy since her background had been focused on the construction industry. However, since she joined the Calson Management team, Cathy has found her true passion for working with seniors. What Cathy loves most about her job is sharing comfort and care, along with helping not only the residents but also their families during their life transition. Cathy's biggest reward is seeing the smiles on the residents' faces.
Chantel Reyes
Director of Communications
Previously working as a high-end stylist in the Bay Area, soon after Cornerstone Assisted Living opened, Chantel was inspired by the Reyes family's passion for caring for seniors. This led her to change careers and officially join the Cornerstone team in 2014. Now, Chantel develops and implements marketing and sales strategies and is involved in community member services, helping connect more people and families to the services and care available through Calson Management. She believes what sets Calson Management apart is the company's heartfelt and genuine compassion for seniors and community members.
Nicole Kindred
Regional Nurse
Nichole has been a nurse since 2006. She started her career in Skilled Nursing, where she developed her knowledge and experience and her love for seniors. Nichole journeyed beyond that after seven years and joined an out-patient specialty clinic with Sutter Hospital, where she worked hand-in-hand with physicians and patients, ensuring they received specialized care. Nichole rejoined the senior industry with the Calson team in 2016, where she has shared her passion for nursing and her love of seniors as both an Administrator and the Regional Nurse, ensuring we stay up to date on caring for our seniors and inspiring her team.
Tanya Tull
Regional Activities Director
Tanya has been providing activities and working with seniors since 2012. She loves her work as she feels it gives a new meaning to her life. What she loves most about it are the relationships that she continues to develop with the seniors. She loves making them laugh, being there for them when they need to talk, listening to their stories, and just spending time with them. Rockville residents have become like a second family for Tanya. She is always striving to do better, think "out of the box," and develop new, creative activities that keep her residents excited and engaged.
Jolene Barnett
Regional Care Coordinator
Growing up, Jolene was close to her grandmother. She began to appreciate the kindness which comes from our loving senior community. From that point on, she would find herself assisting seniors in one capacity or another. She started as a candy striper in a hospital, later became a Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aid, and worked in skilled nursing for 22 years. As time went on, Jolene became Care Coordinator and Activity Director in a Memory Care Community. When her nephew, Jason Reyes, built an Assisted Living Community, she was ecstatic and later became Care Coordinator of Cornerstone Assisted Living.
